As a result of the successful negotiations with the European Commission, where it was selected as an implementing partner of the InvestEU programme, the Bulgarian Development Bank conducted market consultations for offering two financial products with a European guarantee. These are aimed at small and medium-sized businesses, and at building sustainable infrastructure.

The consultations were a preparation for the launch of an open and transparent procedure for the selection of financial intermediaries with which BDB would conclude operational agreements for the offering of the guarantee products.

To finalize the selection documents, the Bank consulted all stakeholders.

To support the development of small and medium enterprises, a guarantee product will be offered with two distinct sub-products - capped and uncapped guarantees.

The aim is to combine the financing of general measures to develop the competitiveness of SMEs with support for priority policies such as green transition, innovation, digitalization, cultural and creative industries.

The second InvestEU product will support the creation of sustainable infrastructure and will be offered in three sub-products:

- capped loss guarantee in waste, wastewater and clean air;
- capped loss guarantee in intermodal;
- uncapped loss guarantee in water.

The InvestEU programme (2021-2027) is the EU's main investment instrument for economic recovery, environmental progress and jobs in Europe. It is aimed at supporting growth after the COVID crisis and achieving the objectives of building a green, digital and sustainable European economy.
