The Bulgarian Development Bank was among the first institutions to support the healthcare system by donating over BGN 500 thousand for the purchasing of lifesaving equipment and consumables for treatment of Covid-19 pandemic. The campaign has been directed with priority to the hospitals in North-Western Bulgaria which suffer a gross shortage of medical equipment and were heavily affected with a lot of infected medical specialists as early as in the first weeks of the epidemic.

The funds have helped to provide mobile respirators, mechanical ventilation equipment, gas analysis equipment, as well as rapid diagnostic tests for Covid-19 which supported the work of the medical establishments in Lom, Ruse, Pleven, Lovech, Vidin and Vratsa.

Support in the crisis situation was also provided to the Military Medical Academy in Sofia, and by a joint donation campaign among the employees of the Bank group support was ensured for the first-line medical teams at the Emergency Care Center in the capital city.
