A Place Where Miracles Happen.
That is how Dr. Metodiya Sekulovski, manager of the Neovitro IVF clinic, describes his business. His dream was to create an “oasis” for patients with reproductive challenges. He managed to fulfill his vision – and with it, the dreams of dozens of families to receive the greatest gift of all: their children. This is the story of Neovitro, the factory of miracles, which has been growing with the support of the Bulgarian Development Bank.
Did you know that 1 in 6 people worldwide faces reproductive health issues? According to a report by the World Health Organization, published in April, around 17.5% of the adult population struggles with infertility. In Bulgaria, more than 290,000 couples are affected, and unfortunately, this number continues to rise every year, Neovitro points out. The causes are many, including genetic and immunological conditions, modern lifestyles, stress, nutrition, alcohol, smoking, and more.
“We treat patients with severe reproductive problems. Over 80% of our patients are couples who have struggled for more than five years, many of whom have sought treatment in clinics across Bulgaria, Turkey, and Europe”, says Dr. Sekulovski. He adds that preventive healthcare is still not sufficiently prioritized in Bulgaria, which can lead to the deepening of many conditions. For this reason, the center organizes free examinations and consultations with experts to provide guidance and support to couples facing reproductive challenges.
The efforts are clearly paying off. Although Neovitro has been operating for just three years, its specialists have already helped bring 56 babies into the world, with another 20 expectant mothers awaiting their miracles soon. The clinic has carried out 400 IVF procedures, placing Neovitro among the centers with the highest success rates in the country. It houses state-of-the-art IVF, andrology, and cryo laboratories, equipped with cutting-edge technology for specialized procedures. In addition to experts in obstetrics, gynecology, and reproductive medicine, the team also includes specialists in embryology, andrology, reproductive immunology, endocrinology, hematology, nutrition, and other medical fields. “For us, teamwork is the foundation of success. We take a personalized approach to every patient”, says Dr. Sekulovski.
Neovitro is one of the few clinics in Bulgaria that offers assisted reproduction in natural (spontaneous) cycles. Equally important is preimplantation genetic testing, which can help prevent hereditary diseases. The tests focus strictly on medical information relevant to the child’s health and wellbeing. Phenotypical traits such as eye color, hair, or height could only be obtained through specially designed tests, but not through routine patient testing, the clinic’s manager clarifies.
Recently, Neovitro has also introduced research related to the human genome in reproductive health. “Our goal is to establish our own genetic laboratory for faster diagnosis and treatment of reproductive issues”, says Dr. Sekulovski.
This vision is supported by an investment from the Bulgarian Development Bank, which financed the renovation and expansion of the Medical Center’s facilities, the purchase of modern equipment, and the introduction of advanced technologies and methodologies. The resources also allow for teaching and scientific activities in the field of assisted reproduction.
And the Neovitro team believes this will lead to many more miracles to come.
