07.09.2021 BDB supports the debut of an international documentary film festival in Bulgaria
The first edition of the Rhodope International Film Festival will take place between September 16 and 21 on an open stage in Smolyan. It is designed as an active international platform for documentary filmmakers and the Bulgarian Development Bank will play a key role in its implementation as a partner of the event.
The festival is a symbolic continuation of the emblematic Review of the Work of Young Filmmakers festival held from 1973 to 1991 in the mountain town. Today, a modern event of national and international significance will build on this legacy, creating conditions for the development of the contemporary Bulgarian film industry.
The Rhodope International Film Festival will debut with a focus on the creative partnership between Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey and Germany and its patron will be the famous Bulgarian director, screenwriter and actor Georgi Stoev-Jackie.
The program contains five panels, two of which are competitions for feature-length and short documentaries. Young and debuting filmmakers will present their first films under the key slogan "When love is a social problem".
The organizers of the Rhodope International Film Festival are the RIFE Foundation and the Goethe-Institut Bulgaria.
