BDB Supports Renovation of Children’s ENT Department at University Hospital “Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL”

The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) has joined the initiative to renovate the children’s ENT department at University Hospital “Tsaritsa Yoanna – ISUL” in Sofia. With its financial contribution, the Bank helped create improved treatment conditions in the only specialized pediatric ENT department in Western Bulgaria.

The campaign was carried out under the patronage of Bishop Gavriil of Lovech with the support of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. It brought together dozens of private and corporate donors, with BDB being the first institution to respond to the fundraising appeal in late 2023.

At the official opening ceremony of the renovated ward, BDB’s Executive Director Tsanko Arabadzhiev emphasized the importance of community responsibility:

“I stand before you not only as the representative of an institution, but as part of a community that believes true care is measured by actions. For the management of the Bulgarian Development Bank, this was not simply a donation, but a natural human response to a call for help,” he said.

The department treats around 1,500 children each year and is one of the few medical facilities in Bulgaria that provides newborn hearing screening and performs cochlear implant procedures.
