Delyana Ivanova: BDB provides key support for building industrial zones in the country
The Bulgarian Development Bank is a reliable partner of municipalities on their path toward sustainable economic development, attracting high-tech investments, and creating stable jobs. In line with its new strategy, the state-owned bank actively supports the development of industrial zones and parks across the country.
This was stated by Delyana Ivanova, Chair of the Supervisory Board of BDB, during the groundbreaking ceremony of the “Zagore-Elenino” Industrial Park in Stara Zagora. The event was attended by Krasimir Yakimov, Deputy Minister of Innovation and Growth; Zhivko Todorov, Mayor of the city; Teodora Pesheva, Member of the Management Board of BDB; Radoslav Tanev, CEO of “Industrial Zone Zagore” JSC; as well as representatives of local authorities and the business community.
The project is being implemented with nearly BGN 14 million in grant funding under the Recovery and Resilience Plan (RRP) through the Ministry of Innovation and Growth. The total investment exceeds BGN 17 million, with BDB providing the necessary financing for the implementation of the activities.
The establishment of the industrial park is expected to create a more attractive business environment for investors in the region and generate hundreds of new jobs.
The “Zagore-Elenino” Industrial Park is one of four projects supported so far by BDB under the RRP, along with the industrial zones in Ruse, Svishtov, and Targovishte. The total amount of financing provided for these projects exceeds BGN 90 million. Another industrial zone is currently under approval.
BDB’s program for financing industrial parks is being implemented in line with the bank’s new strategy, aimed at supporting public policies in strategic sectors – healthcare, security and defense, the defense industry, the water and sewerage sector, and energy – as well as addressing regional imbalances and fostering the sustainable growth of Bulgarian municipalities.
