Provision of equipment for the computer hall at the “Asen Zlatarov“ Home for Children Deprived of Parental Care
The Bulgarian Development Bank supports the application of modern technology in the educational process and the opportunity for an equal start of all children. Following this concept, BDB has decided to help equip a computer lab in the Home for children deprived of parental care "Asen Zlatarov", Vratsa, by donating six computers with monitors, mouse devices and keyboards.
80 children aged 7 to 18 years live in the home. These are students who need access to computers both in support of the educational process, and so that they can acquire the computer skills necessary for successful integration outside the protected environment.
The "Asen Zlatarov" Home for Children in Vratsa has a history of almost 50 years. Over the years, the institution has given shelter to hundreds of children. A reform process was carried out in children's homes up until 2001, with the main purpose of deinstitutionalizing the children, i.e. a transition from raising and educating children in the home to activities related to organizing and providing social services in the community as an alternative to the institutional care and stay. In line with this idea, "Asen Zlatarov" Home has created a protected space inhabited by six children. The next step is to start a social service – a Transitional home where young people over 16 years will be prepared for an independent life.
