BDB Becomes the First Bank in Bulgaria to Join PCAF

The bank will apply an internationally recognized methodology for measuring and reporting financed greenhouse gas emissions

The Bulgarian Development Bank (BDB) has become the first financial institution in Bulgaria to join the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF). This is part of the bank’s efforts to implement international best practices in sustainable finance and climate risk management.

PCAF is a global initiative that brings together financial institutions to establish a harmonized approach to measuring and disclosing greenhouse gas emissions associated with lending activities. Launched in 2015, the initiative now brings together more than 770 financial institutions worldwide, including national development banks such as BGK, CDP, Bpifrance, the British Business Bank, and others.

PCAF participants develop and implement the Global GHG Accounting and Reporting Standard for the Financial Industry.

Membership in PCAF will enable BDB to measure and track the carbon footprint associated with its financial activities, while enhancing transparency regarding the climate impact of its lending and investment activities.
