22.11.2021 BDB sponsored the selection of the best Bulgarian start-up

The 10 best Bulgarian start-ups and finalists of StartUP World Cup Bulgaria were selected at an official ceremony at the Plovdiv Fair Hall. The Sofia-based company OfficeRnD that provides office rental software was elected as the winner. OfficeRnD is expected to be a worthy representative of our country at the StartUP World Cup finals next year in San Francisco.

The Bulgarian stage of the competition was held with the sponsorship of BDB whose main focus is to encourage Bulgarian small and medium-sized business; BDB’s Executive Director Tsanko Arabadzhiev, the Executive Director of the BDB Group’s Capital Investments Fund, Stefan Tamnev, and BDB Microfinancing’s Executive Officer Ivana Tsaneva participated in the networking with entrepreneurs and potential investors.

Angel Hadzhiev, a manager from the Capital Investments Fund, was a member of the jury that selected the StartUP World Cup Bulgaria winner.

“We are the partner who helps you through tough times with access to financing and support for the implementation of your business idea. You can count on our managerial expertise and knowledge of the market,” said Dimitar Stoilov from BDB’s Corporate Banking department.

He presented the bank’s new niche products targeted at small and medium businesses, the creative and artistic sectors, and manufacturing start-ups to the participants in the ceremony. The program is in partnership with the Pan-European Fund, has a scope of EUR 40 million, and will let BDB grant direct loans on even better terms.

Nikolay Dobrev from the BDB Group’s Capital Investments Fund explained the opportunities for raising of equity capital for SME growth and support of the development of the equity investments ecosystem.

“We are investing in established business models with a potential for growth and generation of high added value,” stated Dobrev.

StartUP World Cup Bulgaria is organized by the Digital4 Foundation with the help of the BDB, and the StartUP World Cup’s mission is to support the development and growth of innovative and technological ecosystems in regions worldwide.
