27.06.2024 Tsanko Arabadzhiev: BDB has a long-term goal to support the green transition of the economy
‘The Bulgarian Development Bank will offer new opportunities to support small and medium-sized businesses. As an implementing partner of the European Commission's InvestEU Programme, we will provide a guarantee to commercial banks so that companies can benefit from loans of a total of over BGN 2.5 billion with relaxed collateral requirements’. This was announced by the Bank's CEO, Tanko Arabadzhiev, during the ‘Green Transition Forum 4.0: New Prospects for Central and Eastern Europe’.
‘At least 60% of the funds in the Bank's guarantee facility will be directed to investments in the areas of climate, environment, innovation and digitalization’, Arabadzhiev added.
He took part in the discussion on ‘Mobilising capital for green policies’, which was moderated by Lilyana Pavlova, EIB Vice President (2019-2023). The keynote panel also included Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Lyudmila Petkova, European Investment Bank Vice President Kyriacos Kakouris, Iliyana Tsanova, Deputy Director General of DG Budget, Roger Havenith, Deputy Chief Executive of the European Investment Fund, Kameliya Mineva, Member of the Board and CEO of ProCredit Bank, and Krasimira Raycheva, Visa Country Manager for Bulgaria.
Tsanko Arabadzhiev pointed out that the Bulgarian Development Bank has a long-term goal to support the green transition of the economy. The Bank supports companies that innovate and optimize their processes to save energy resources.
BDB’s Executive Officer called on small and medium-sized businesses to take advantage of the capital and resources made available to them for sustainable development.
‘Businesses need to know that BDB is an institution that provides resources to sectors and companies, which have difficulty accessing finance. Every fourth loan granted by our Group is for green investment’, Arabadzhiev added.
The Green Transformation Forum takes place from 26 to 28 June on the conference stages of the Sofia Event Center. The event is organized for the fourth consecutive year by Dir.bg and 3E News and gathers over 2,500 participants from 18 countries.
