Belana exports its products to 25 countries
120 years of history and a brand known to all generations of Bulgarians. This is the brief introduction to one of the most powerful manufacturers of featherweight paper and sanitary products produced from it in Bulgaria and the Balkan Peninsula - Belana.It is the first organization in Bulgaria awarded with the right to use the EU Ecolabel.
The plant has a closed production cycle and a certified environmental management system. For more than seven years, its Belovo toilet paper has been bearing the EU Ecolabel.The ecological criteria that these products meet apply to the entire production cycle, i.e. from the time the raw material is received at the plant to the paper rolling.
Belana has another important certificate, the FSC, which means responsible use of raw materials. No trees are cut down for the FSC-certified production, but special trees are grown instead.Belovo exports 70% of its production abroad, trades with 25 countries, with its main customers being the countries in our region. One of its main markets is Greece, which tourist business receives 25 million guests each year. In Macedonia, it is the leader in the tissue paper market. In the UK, it is one of the major suppliers of recycled paper for the floral business.
"The main key to success is finding the right partners," says Kalin Ionov, CEO of the company. "We received strong financial support from BDB, with which we were able to modernize production and refinance on good terms the previous loan. With that, we entered the 21st century industry strong."
