Guarantee agreement with EIF under the Pan-European Guarantee Fund

The Pan-European Guarantee Fund was established in the second half of 2020 with the participation of EU member states on a voluntary basis, incl. Bulgaria. It is implemented by the European investment fund (EIF).

In September 2021, BDB signed a Guarantee Agreement under the Program with the EIF. This guarantee allowed BDB to provide direct financing with uncapped AAA 70 % loss coverage for the guaranteed loans. The financial advantage provided took the form of reduction in the risk margin and overall interest rate under guaranteed loan. The final beneficiaries are MSMEs eligible in accordance with the requirements under the PEGF guarantee.

The guaranteed portfolio included under the program amounted to 42 million leva and 54 credit transactions.

In May 2021, BDB Leasing also signed a Guarantee Agreement with the EIF under the Pan-European Guarantee Fund. This guarantee is capped and resulted in a guaranteed portfolio volume of 39 million leva. The Final beneficiaries are MSMEs. The financial advantage was provided in the form of no down-payment if transportation vehicles are leased assets; or maximum 5% down-payment for any other leased assets (excluding transportation vehicles).
